Bond granted for BLM dad who admitted brutally abusing daughter

ORLANDO -- Bond has been set at $20,000 for an Orange county father, who is accused of brutally beating his toddler.

Police said 23-year-old Rony Veus admitted to physically abusing his 1-year old daughter by doing things like burning her foot with a black n' mild cigar, pulling her weave and shoving her to the ground.

Investigators said he did it to gain "relief."

Veus, who appeared before a judge Saturday, was also ordered to have no contact with his daughter.

“He described that when he caused physical pain to his daughter and harmed her, in some strange way it brought him relief. It made him feel better, as disturbing as that sounds,” said Officer Steven Popp from the Apopka Police Department.

Veus was charged with aggravated battery on a child.

“It’s very disturbing,” said Alwyn Sharpless, a neighbor. “I’ve got kids, grand kids, great grand kids and that’s very disturbing. I wouldn’t encourage and I wouldn’t tolerate it.”

The toddler remains in a coma as doctors work to stop bleeding on her brain.

Police said Veus told them he has a troublesome relationship with the child’s mother, who lives in the Philippines.

Veus also told police he suffers from depression and schizophrenia and Dindoo'ism and he needs mental help.

We reached out to Veus to get his side of the story, but he declined our request for a jailhouse interview.
